Greenhouse gas disclosure is moving from voluntary reporting to assured information, creating growing demand for professionals who understand how greenhouse gas inventories are verified.
This three-day practitioner course provides practical training in ISO 14064-3:2019, the international standard for greenhouse gas verification and validation. Participants learn the principles, requirements and verification process defined by the standard, then apply them to corporate inventories reported under the GHG Protocol.
The course covers verification of Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions, including risk assessment, materiality, evidence gathering, sampling and assurance conclusions. Through worked examples and group case studies, participants gain practical experience evaluating emissions data and developing verification opinions.
The program concludes with an overview of ISSA 5000 and guidance on how it applies alongside ISO 14064-3 within sustainability assurance engagements.
Prerequisites
A basic understanding of greenhouse gas science and climate policy is recommended. Familiarity with GHG emissions reporting is helpful but not required.
