Rapid Safety Intervention and Crisis Response
From serious incidents and regulatory pressure to operational disruption, DEKRA delivers focused, discreet support when the stakes are high and time is limited.
Rapid intervention for safety-critical situations.
Some safety challenges require long-term transformation. Others demand immediate, focused action.
A catastrophic incident, serious injury or fatality can place an organization under intense operational, regulatory and reputational pressure. An OSHA or EPA inspection, citation or potential enforcement action can quickly escalate. A newly acquired operation may reveal significant safety, leadership or cultural risks. A pattern of serious incidents may cause executives, board members or customers to question whether the organization has the situation under control.
In these moments, the priority is not to launch another broad initiative. It is to understand what is happening, and contain the immediate problem or gap .
DEKRA's rapid intervention services bring experienced safety, leadership and technical specialists together to address urgent, high-consequence situations. We can rapidly assemble multidisciplinary teams with expertise in process safety, operational risk, human performance, regulatory response and organizational leadership to provide immediate support when risks are escalating and time is limited.
What is rapid intervention?
A rapid intervention is a focused response to an urgent safety, regulatory or operational challenge that cannot be addressed through routine processes or a traditional consulting timeline.
Every situation is different. Rather than forcing the problem into a predetermined approach, DEKRA assembles the expertise appropriate to the event. Our specialists work quickly to establish visibility, identify immediate priorities, and guide decisive action. The objective is not to solve every systemic issue at once. It is to stop further deterioration, reduce risk and shift the organization toward a safer, more controlled trajectory.
Our work is conducted with discretion and sensitivity to the legal, operational and human considerations surrounding serious events. When engaged through legal counsel, DEKRA can provide technical support within an attorney-directed relationship. The availability and scope of attorney-client privilege should be determined by the organization’s legal counsel.

When should an organization consider rapid intervention?
Rapid intervention may be appropriate when:
- A catastrophic event, serious injury or fatality has occurred
- An incident requires an independent investigation and immediate response support
- OSHA, EPA or another authority has initiated an inspection or enforcement action
- Multiple serious incidents indicate that existing controls are not working
- Executives, board members or customers are questioning the organization’s safety strategy
- A site requires an immediate, independent assessment of safety conditions
- Serious injury and fatality exposure must be stabilized quickly
- A business or site needs accelerated safety turnaround support
- A site's culture or leadership approach do not match the rigor of other locations
- A contractor introduces unexpected risk or fails to meet safety expectations
- An acquisition reveals urgent safety, leadership or cultural problems
- A critical staffing gap threatens safe operations or business continuity
These situations differ in scale and complexity, but they share a common requirement: experienced people must quickly determine what is wrong, what matters most and what action should come next.
Organizations call DEKRA when the situation is complex, the consequences are significant and conventional approaches are moving too slowly. We combine practical safety experience, technical knowledge and leadership insight to create a response suited to the specific challenge.
Our role is to bring clarity when pressure is high, identify the actions that can make the greatest immediate difference and partner with leaders to move the organization from reaction toward control. Once the situation is stabilized, DEKRA can also support the longer-term improvements needed to strengthen systems, leadership capability and safety performance.
If your organization is facing urgent safety, regulatory or operational challenge, contact DEKRA to discuss a rapid intervention.
