Nominations for Safety in Action™ Icons Now Open: New Safety at Work Recognition Program Debuts at 2016 Conference

Oxnard, CA – February 2, 2016 – DEKRA Insight, a global leader in safety at work, today announced the launch of Safety in Action™ Icons , a new recognition program to celebrate those who have made an inspirational, influential, or innovative contribution (Icon) to safety.
The Safety in Action™ Icons is a new addition to the annual Safety in Action™ Conference (#SIA2016) which brings together thousands of people, across all industries to do one thing: improve safety at work. The Icon nominations are open to organizations of all sizes, types and industry sectors.
“The definition of an Icon is a person regarded as a representative symbol of something. We believe the remarkable individuals that make safety happen every day are the truest symbols, or Icons, of Safety in Action. Through our new Icon recognition program we will begin to hear those remarkable efforts and accomplishments from all levels of an organization,” said Colin Duncan, CEO of DEKRA Insight.
Duncan continued, “We are intentionally not calling this an ‘awards’ program. Instead, think of this in terms of recognition, celebration, and an outstanding opportunity to share stories of safety. Icons is a way of publicly recognizing these stories and saying ‘thank you’ amongst peers and influential people in the world of safety at work.”
Icons goes beyond the numbers. Icons includes the measurable safety impact of efforts, but they also include the aspects of an impact on safety that can’t be measured; how people talk, feel, think, and act differently about safety as a result of an Icons’ energy and effort.

Nominations can be submitted online at www​.safetyinaction​.com/Icons . Also available are “tips for nominating someone”, an online application form, and FAQs . The nomination deadline is March 16, 2016.
