DEKRA takes over majority stake in Swiss tech company Spearhead

International expert organization DEKRA has taken over a majority stake in Swiss tech company Spearhead AG. Spearhead is a pioneer in digital solutions for claims management and offers insurers, fleet operators, and car dealerships systems for the complete digital processing of vehicle damage claims. DEKRA had held a minority stake since 2021; this has now been increased to 50.1%.

Spearhead's business model focuses on digital processes in the handling of vehicle damage, starting with the fast and accurate reporting of damage (“first notice of loss”). With the help of a dynamic questionnaire, digital reporting tools and, where possible, telematics data, it is possible to classify vehicle damage within a very short time and initiate the next steps as quickly as possible. This is based on a huge database of real accident data and DEKRA damage reports.
As part of the majority takeover, DEKRA is also strengthening the strategic management of the company and appointing two additional members to Spearhead's supervisory board. In addition to Guido Kutschera, who will remain president of the supervisory board, Friedemann Bausch, Managing Director of DEKRA Automobil GmbH, and Bernd Grüninger, Head of Appraisals and member of the Directorate of DEKRA Automobil GmbH, will be on the board.
