It Works: System-Focused Behavior Based Safety

Behavior-Based Safety can be a powerful mechanism to deliver better safety performance. However, to be successful, it must include principals and attributes such as:
- Improving the systems that run the organization
- Being science-based and field-validated
- Adapting to the organization’s unique culture and needs
- Reducing exposures
- Delivering sustainable results
In this white paper, we discuss how research has proven that a system-focused Behavior-Based Safety is successful if actively championed by leadership, adequately resourced and sustained by management. We also point out the factors that could impede the success of this safety program.
