Assessing our Clients Safety Needs

Why We Work to Prevent SIF

“Our work in serious injury and fatality prevention has been the most personally rewarding work in my career. Helping organizations put interventions in place that get them upstream of these types of events will hopefully have a positive long-term impact for organizations and their employees and families for many years to come.”

Michael is an expert at leveraging data from assessments that evaluate safety climate and culture, safety leadership, exposure control systems, and human and organizational reliability to develop comprehensive solutions that positively impact and integrate personal safety, process safety and serious and injury fatality prevention. His experience spans across industries to include utilities, mining, oil & gas, chemical, manufacturing, transportation, and government.

One of his recent successes include a project for a global company where they experienced a 60% reduction in their recordable rate and 19% reduction in the serious injury and fatality (actual and potential) rate. Another recent project enabled a mining company to reduce its recordable rate by 67%. As a result, they were presented with the John T. Ryan award for being the safest mine in Canada.

Michael is an accomplished executive coach, delivering leadership and technical coaching to individuals at all levels, from the boardroom, to C-suite executives, to front-line leaders and employees. He has successfully engaged with international clients in multi-cultural environments and has managed and supported projects around the world. Michael is also a recognized speaker and author in the area of safety culture, safety leadership development and serious injury and fatality prevention. Prior to joining DEKRA Insight, Michael developed programs for organizations ranging from the U.S. Government, to the Institute of Nuclear Power Organizations (INPO), to Fortune 50 companies.
