DEKRA Renews Commitment as Sponsor of Nico Hülkenberg
Long-Standing Partnership Set to Continue
17. Feb 2017

DEKRA – the leading international expert organization – will be continuing its commitment to Formula 1 through 2017 by maintaining its long-standing partnership with Nico Hülkenberg. DEKRA will remain the official partner of the 29-year-old, who will be racing for the Renault factory team from the start of this season. This year, too, his official driver cap will continue to bear the green DEKRA logo. The 2017 Formula One season kicks off on the weekend of March 24–26 with the 2017 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, which is traditionally the first race of the season. Renault will be the first team to unveil its new car next Tuesday.
“I’m delighted that I can count on my trusted partner DEKRA as I embark on the latest phase of my career,” says Nico Hülkenberg. “DEKRA is a globally recognized brand that stands for safety and neutrality. I’m very happy to wear the logo on my cap, particularly because we have built up an amicable partnership over many years.”
In 2016, the partnership made it a round dozen. “2017 is the thirteenth year of our involvement in Nico’s career, going right back to his early days of karting. We are confident that, in this case, thirteen is a lucky number,” says Clemens Klinke, member of the Management Board of DEKRA SE and Head of the Automotive business unit. “Tens of thousands of DEKRA employees across all five continents will once again be keeping their fingers crossed for Nico this year.”
Hülkenberg’s switch to Renault means that he is, for the first time ever in his career, a Formula 1 factory driver. “This past winter I’ve been training harder than ever,” he says. “The new cars will be a lot quicker than last year, the braking distances shorter and the stresses even greater, which is why I’ve done a lot more training than usual, especially for my neck muscles.”
