DEKRA, one of the leading global expert organizations, is entering the emission check market in New Mexico, following the acquisition of assets in the Albuquerque metropolitan area. The 8 acquired stations are the first for DEKRA in the state. The world’s No. 1 in vehicle inspections now operates stations for safety and emission checks in seven U.S. states.
“DEKRA has been active in the field of vehicle inspections for more than 90 years. We have been performing state-mandated emission checks in Texas, Nevada and other states for many years. Our goal is to bring our experience and expertise to New Mexico in order to give vehicle owners the best possible service”, said Pete Villari, Managing Director Vehicle Inspections at DEKRA Services Inc. “We are also looking at a significant potential for growth.”
The regulatory environment in New Mexico requires most vehicles in the Albuquerque area (Bernalillo County) to pass an emission test every two years. “This acquisition fits DEKRA’s general focus on neutral and independent third-party expert services and a clear distinction between inspection and repair”, says Pete Villari.
