China EV100 and DEKRA want to work together for safe future mobility in China
Chinese think tank China EV100 and international expert organization DEKRA are working together toward a safe future mobility in China. In a high-profile management meeting in DEKRA’s headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, both parties emphasized their willingness to cooperate in facing the challenges of automated and connected driving.

DEKRA CEO Stefan Kölbl and Board Member Ivo Rauh welcomed China EV100 Secretary General Zhang Yongwei and his delegation. Both sides want to work together to enhance safety in the fast-developing connected car and automated driving sectors in China, as well as support standardization in these areas in China through sharing DEKRA’s global expertise.
“We have been working for safety for more than 90 years, and that has always meant facing the challenges posed by technological developments of the time”, said DEKRA CEO Stefan Kölbl. “Therefore, making sure that automated and connected driving are safe is one of our key tasks for the coming years. China’s rising automotive sector is an important field for this task, and we are looking forward to working together with our partners in China EV100.”
“Since its establishment, China EV100 has been committed to promoting the issues of automated, electrified, connected and shared mobility within the automotive industry. The high-speed development of ICT industry in China and diversified transportation scenarios makes China the most qualified country for research on and testing of automated vehicles”, said Secretary General Zhang. “DEKRA is among the global leaders in terms of testing automated vehicles. China EV100 would like to introduce DEKRA’s advanced experiences and research achievements to China and make joint efforts with DEKRA to create further progress in China’s automotive industry.”
China EV100, founded in 2014, has grown to include a wide range of members from government, domestic and international OEMs, component suppliers, organizations, etc. in the field of electric vehicles and intelligent transportation. Its goal is to boost the development of future mobility in China through conducting industry and policy research, organizing high-level industry and government conferences, as well as facilitating exchange and cooperation between Chinese and German industries.
Following the recent agreement between Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and German Chancellor Angela Merkel about working together in the development of autonomous driving and electric vehicles, China EV100 and VDA (German Association of the Automotive Industry) organized Sino-German automotive industry dialogues, in which DEKRA has been taking part. Further talks are to produce concrete next steps in the cooperation between China EV100 and DEKRA.
Accompanying the management meeting in Stuttgart, DEKRA experts also comprehensively introduced the company’s expertise on testing automated and connected driving functions. After taking over the Lausitzring racetrack neighboring the DEKRA Technology Center in Klettwitz, Germany, DEKRA is building Europe’s largest independent testing site for future mobility, while in Málaga, Spain, DEKRA experts focus on testing wireless communications as well as researching and developing testing procedures for connected driving.
